    Vision  Statement
Building self-esteem for youth is what LMH aims for, which occurs during and after hour programs. For our events, LMH showcases youth in various ways, and each is an opportunity to display their own confidence, stage presence, and in some cases appear with Miss Hawkins as their first Mentor figure or other professionals. All episodes of 'Create with Ro' and 'LMH Children's Network' appear on our YouTube channel. We also aim to give youth the ability to interpret, synthesize, and elevate their current and future lives by exploring their personal history, ethnicity, and culture. To create intergenerational connections and transfers of knowledge to help them preserve the past, define their present, and secure a better future for themselves and generations to come.

Gus and Camille showcase amazing projects, seen in 'Create with Ro' season 2 on our YouTube channel. Hear their great program feedback!
1) Who, What, Where, When, & Why -

Who We Are:
  • We are a Multicultural Youth Empowerment Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) organization, fully legalized to operate our one-of-a-kind Mentoring programs in Florida.

What We Do:
  • Our events and presentations champion our younger generation, and in one program combines them with successful educators, entertainers and business professionals to awaken and celebrate their hidden potential of all, but particularly “at-risk” youth.
  • We 'Encourage young people to be leaders and not statistics', and bring positive attention to influential, inspirational individuals.

What Does “At-Risk” Mean?
  • "At-risk” youth is every youth imaginable. You may not think so, but LMH also benefits 'Privileged' youth, because a parent's wealth can not guarantee their success or happiness.
  • Youth from lower income areas, however, are usually those who by virtue of their circumstances, unaware that they're statistically more likely to be challenged academically, and less likely to become successful. In the United States, there are many definitions of “at risk”; including those with behavioral issues, the disabled, students who make lower grades (academically disadvantaged), peer pressured students, gender confused, and those from one parent households.
  • Subsequently, LMH may help counter the negative influences of mis-education. With this in mind, by way of inter-generational education, LMH defines the present by learning from the past, so that ALL young minds might look forward to a brilliant future.
  • We aim to reach middle and high school aged youth, a range that unfortunately correlates with high rates of chemical abuse under-development, poor coping skills, teen pregnancy, inadequate education, and high risk behavior where HIV/ AIDS and other STI’s are contracted and left untreated.
  • LMH addresses these specific concerns with onsite guidance from speakers like those from the Board of Health for example, who may answer confidential questions, provide protection, brochures, and counseling locations, all in an attempt to lower dangerous risks. Our mission includes having individuals who have studied this history, and youth mentors for in-person or ‘e’ correspondence connections, as well as information about appropriate interactions to prevent certain situations.

Where We Operate:
  • LMH programs are in person at partnering locations, and we record and follow-up with our youth and families at educational, multicultural or community locations.

When:
  • Our youth meet weekly, and monthly and we strive for 2 events either luncheons or banquets throughout the year, and ongoing community programs.

Why:
  • As we grow, our youth and families share that they need our programs, and they’re our greatest encouragement. LMH and youth understand that in rapidly changing times, they’re more vulnerable than ever. Through our programs, they’re inspired to realize who they are, and who they can be, or gently explore their backgrounds, to overcome obstacles with more self-esteem than before. Unlike some nonprofits, we serve both youth from ‘at-risk’ to privileged backgrounds. Both programs serve all youth, yet because the ‘Network’ is focused more on mentoring, it helps to benefit underserved ‘at risk’ youth more, who have an otherwise lower chance of becoming successful. With increased assurance, our youth share on YouTube saying that our program has inspired them to perform better in school, and they know we care about them. Ultimately, youth are less prone to fail or fall victim to statistics when we work closely, drawing from the experience and education of our professionals.

2) STRATEGY

WHY THIS WORKS WHERE SOME HAVE NOT?
  • Our events are focused on outreach to a critical mass of youth, as opposed to focusing primarily on one-to-one mentoring. It is proven that our successes have bred other successes. For example, our proof is that parents have reported a significant raise in the self-esteem of their children. More proof is that a young man reports, that our LMH program and ongoing mentorship by our Executive Director Ronnique, has inspired him to work with and even overcome his handicap, to research and accomplish his goal of becoming an EMT for the NY Fire Department.
  • We are mindful, that there are not always enough mentors to go around, and that some youth may be harder to engage. We aim to provide them with influential information and statistics options that they can use immediately, to potentially live healthier happier lives. Our events promote insight, growth, and consequential thinking.
  • As we grow, our mentoring professionals will have enough clout, presence, notoriety, and professionalism to influence even typically hard-to-reach youth. They will be diverse, multicultural, and directly reflect the communities where we work. This reflection provides youth with a sense of empowerment, hope, and self-esteem.

3) IMPACT, IMMEDIATE & LONG TERM SUCCESS MEASURES
  • Our long-term impact occurs after each season is completed. This will encompass more people to review and evaluate our performance, surveys and other things to determine our program success long after the program was complete. This will help us govern our strategy and ways to improve our program to benefit our youth and Families better. The immediate goal is to save lives. The measure of success is the degree to which the life-saving information provided by LMH helps young people identify, then modify and improve their actions now.
  • The long-term goal is for young adults to benefit from the wisdom and knowledge by successful people – both of their own generation and preceding generations, to break cycles of crime, poverty and underachievement.
  • LMH will circulate surveys to evaluate each event’s success, what the audience learned or benefited from and enjoyed most, and garnering sights and suggestions for improving the LMH experience. We will then incorporate their feedback to keep programs as fresh and effective as possible. Past surveys show LMH's personal mentoring connections between speakers and teens work!
4) OPERATIONS AND SUSTAINABILITY
  • Youth are currently learning how to create the content needed to drive our mission forward. They will receive producer's credit and more awareness of their own person endeavors. LMH like other nonprofits, need fiscal support in order to engage in sustainability efforts as well as manage the day-to-day functions of the organization. This specifically includes grant writers, clerical workers, event planners, and accountants. The sustainability of the program at present, relies heavily on the marketable visibility of our annual events. We aim to receive adequate funding in order to ensure that they are measurably successful. It is here, that a critical mass of at-risk youth can hear our message, and possibly match with available mentors.
5) GOALS
  • Like most non-profits, Learn My History Foundation must increase its Board of Directors and donor base to grow.
  • With more funding, we can obtain more functional equipment and initiate our ongoing youth programs. We can also acquire full and part-time staff / intern programs, and ultimately help more young people to prosper into successful happy individuals. Our annual events will help increase our number of professional mentors and reward youth for their achievements!

Special Thanks:
  • To our Florida & original New York supporters!
  • We originated in Manhattan and have not dissolved our NY Chapter, once we rebuild here in Florida, we'll re-incorporate our Mentoring mission there, and operate both.
